About this test:

Focuses on identifying fungal and bacterial pathogens in nail infections through advanced DNA analysis.

Main Infections Detected:

  • description-item-image

    Chronic Nail Infections, Onychomycosis

The NailKEY test identifies fungal and bacterial pathogens, providing essential diagnostic value for onychomycosis and chronic nail infections. It is particularly valuable for culture-negative cases, including infections caused by slow-growing, fastidious, or previously undetected organisms, as well as those where prior antifungal or antibiotic treatment may suppress microbial growth in conventional cultures

Rapid sequencing using NGS technology powered by advanced bioinformatics enables comprehensive microbial identification, detecting both bacteria and fungi with high accuracy across 50,000 microbial targets. qPCR provides rapid detection of bacterial load and targeted pathogen identification, ensuring high sensitivity, particularly in mixed infections and low-abundance organisms, compared to traditional culture.

Validated for nail tissue and debris samples, the test includes a sample collection kit and reports results within 3–5 days.

Interpreting our lab report

Each test includes a detailed laboratory report, providing clinicians with clear, structured data for fast decision-making.
These reports include:

  • • List of bacteria and fungi detected in the sample(s)

  • • Identified antibiotic resistance genes

  • • Antimicrobials to consideration for treatment
